My journey to surgery with Dr Mendez was many years in the making. I’m a mom of 2 that like many struggled with core stability due to diastasis for years. My first child was delivered via c-section and the second was a VBAC baby. Both almost 10lbs and over 22 inches. I ended up getting a mesh umbilical hernia repair in 2014 shortly after my last pregnancy. Life stayed busy but in the back of my mind I knew I wanted that tummy tuck one day. It was the only way to properly repair my abdominal wall. I met Dr Mendez years ago by chance as I was getting a mole removed by Dr Rios. When he mentioned his specialty I joked that maybe one day he’d be fixing me up. Fast forward to 2025. I had now also had a few more abdominal surgery’s that lead to a full hysterectomy and a grand finale emergency appendectomy in 2023. The instability of my core was causing constant annoying pain due to poor posture. I was ready and Dr Mendez was who I wanted as my surgeon. My first point of contact was Kari. She keeps the office running seamlessly and is super easy to talk to which is refreshing. At the consult Dr Mendez takes extra time getting to know you to understand your goals to make sure you’re a good candidate in mind and body for this type of surgery which is so important. I had a surgical question after the appointment that I asked Kari about and Dr Mendez reached out himself via text to set up a time to chat. That type of personal care continued throughout the entire process. I ended up having surgery in February. Dr Mendez personally calls or text you to check in regularly those first few days and has you reach out to him personally with any questions or concerns. That level of care is impossible to come by somewhere else. I actually had a slightly longer healing process that required a few more visits. The staff was phenomenal about squeezing me in to time slots that worked in Joliet. His nurses, Heather and Courtney, are phenomenal. I can’t say enough good things about Dr Mendez and his staff. Having beautiful results and a stable core from this surgery has been life changing.
